Little Picnic will supply a free community fridge to any studio, or neighboring business, interested in saving high-quality catering for your neighbors to enjoy. If you are shooting in an area with no community fridge nearby, we will arrange for a food pickup with our non-profit community partners, from any set in New York.
As the industry moves to become more sustainable, one of the easiest and most essential steps is to reduce its food waste. Productions regularly throw away hundreds of pounds of food a day, because there is no other viable option.
According to the organization Earth Angels, the average large-budget film production wastes an 72 tons of food.
The simplest solution to reducing food waste in the film industry is to have a community fridges conveniently located outside studios. Hosting or donating to a community fridge is protected under the Good Samaritan Laws. There has never been a lawsuit filed in the US against a business hosting a community fridge.
